Ten Years of Bids in Graceland

a cupcakes on the table with lighted candles and balloons

It’s been 10 years since I started the blog with this post and seeing as there have been quite a few new eyes on here recently (perhaps because of a certain post), I thought I should introduce myself to the newbies and reintroduce myself to the BidsinGraceland OGs. Welcome everyone. It’s lovely to have you here. I’m Bids. That’s not my government name, it’s a nickname. But if you ever meet me in real life, don’t call me Bids if you don’t know me. I won’t answer or I’ll correct you. Don’t be offended, that’s just me.

HAIR | This blog started out as a hair journal – say hi, Grace (that’s my hair btw). Grace is a natural gal and we’ve had a bit of a journey together so far. I decided to chronicle the journey when I stopped relaxing my hair (using chemical straighteners) and went natural. Click HERE to read all about it. I advocated for taking responsibility for our natural hair, but have also shared my hair insecurities and how I treat Grace like a side-chick. Since my last Big Chop (click HERE for that cautionary tale *teary eyes*), the hair journey has been a rollercoaster. I really should do an update soon, but for now here are some posts that you might be interested in on the hair front (Click here for all my HAIR posts):

FASHION | Part of the journey learning how to look after and style my natural hair included learning how to style me as a whole too. I am definitely a girl who loves her fa-shun and I could not resist cataloguing the various looks I put together to complement my hair. Some may be cringe now, but whatever! Click here for all my FASHION posts including some of my favourites:

SKINCARE | I guess a natural progression from chronicling my hair journey was a broader interest in beauty and skincare in particular. I’ve always been interested in skincare but I certainly became obsessed after visiting South Korea for the first time and now that’s one of my big passions. I plan on updating my skincare regimens soon but for now you can catch up on all my skincare products by following my #Empties series on Sundays on Instagram. Click here for all my SKINCARE posts but in particular have a read of these:

TRAVEL | Speaking of South Korea, travel is something I have always loved (who doesn’t?!) and over the years I have been super blessed to be able to experience different places (Click here for everywhere I have been so far). There are still so many places I want to visit but I truly came into my travel bloggerself during my time living in Nigeria, when I couldn’t afford to travel outside of Nigeria and decided to explore the terrain I was in. Click here for all my TRAVEL posts but in particular check out:

LIFE IN DENMARK | After living in Nigeria, I applied for jobs in Ivory Coast, Kenya, Switzerland and Denmark. And I ended up in Denmark. It’s been over five years now since I moved here and a bit of a mixed bag but for the most part, I’m really loving it. I started out in Aarhus but now I’m about that Copenhagen life! Click here for all my DENMARK posts but in particular check out:

LIFESTYLE | Those that have been rocking with me for a while will have noticed how the blog has evolved over time. From hair to fashion to skincare to travel and more general life stuff. Especially in recent years, I have shared more and more what’s happening in my life, whether it’s dealing with grief or a personal crisis, trying to survive the lockdown or improving my relationship with exercise. Recently, I have written about where I’m at with dating and relationships and whilst I’m not inviting you guys into the nitty gritty of things, I may share a bit more on that front as and when the Spirit leads. Click here for all my LIFESTYLE posts but in particular check out:

I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for ten years. It’s been amazing; this space is so precious to me, and I’m so grateful for anyone and everyone who stops by to have a read of mine and Grace’s adventures. I promise to try and blog more regularly. If you can’t wait for the blogposts, follow Grace and I on Instagram for our latest adventures.

Lots of love, Bids & Grace!

P.s. Let me know in the comments what you have enjoyed thus far and what you would like to see more of on the blog (and Instagram!)
