Allow me to reintroduce my hair, Grace. Grace, as in the Grace in the Bids in Graceland blog title. That’s Grace.
Some of you may not know this but this blog actually started out as a hair journal chronicling my natural hair journey with Grace. And whilst the blog has evolved into a full lifestyle journal, I still like to come back to my original love from time to time – Grace. We’re constantly rediscovering each other and now I feel comfortable putting down what I feel are the absolute necessities that every naturalista needs for her 4C hair. This is not necessarily applicable to other hair types, it’s not necessarily NOT applicable but I’m focused on 4C hair here. So here goes!
- Butterfly clips to keep your hair in sections whilst washing and styling
- Wide tooth comb to ease the detangling process
- Detangling brush – my Felicia Leatherwood brush is a godsend!
- Clarifying cleanser – loving the Afro Hair & Skin Co “Nurture” Shampoo Bar
- Conditioner – for after every wash
- Deep conditioner – I try to deep condition at least every other wash
- Shower cap
- Steamer (to use with the deep conditioner)
- Microfibre towel – to minimise breakage when drying your hair
- Hair butter! This “Flourish” Hair Butter makes my hair feel soooo soft!
- Styler – Cantu Coconut Curling Cream gives me some mad twists/twistouts
- Oil for sealing in moisture – using the “Bloom” Hair oil from the Afro Hair & Skin Co
- Bobby pins
- Moisturising spritz – I use Mane ‘n’ Tail Hair Strengthener for that daily injection of moisture
- Satin bonnet/pillowcase
