Location: Valetta, Malta
Grace how you doing? Grace is doing so good right now. Can you imagine that I can do a little bun now? Woo hoo hooooo!! I am too excited about the styling possibilities that lie ahead of me. I have ordered a few new products *covers her head in shame* and I cannot wait to try some new styles out. I envision I will probably braid her up again pretty soon but the summer may just end up being completely braid free. Let’s see anyway! Woo!
Wearing: Sandals? Sounds a bit weird, I know but I was wearing sandals all the time in Trinidad and Barbados, it’s was pretty warm in London when I was just there and I’m back in my sandals in Malta where I’m at right now so not totally ridiculous.
Lusting after: I need a new laptop because mine is literally a brick. I have had my eye on the Microsoft Surface laptop for the longest but every time I feel like I am just about ready to splurge, I think of all the trips I could be doing (and now carnivals too!). Maybe this summer I’ll take the plunge…maybe! Also lusting after this gorgeous bag from Mulberry and these beautiful espadrille sandals, yes for summer!
Food cravings: Fish and chips! I want a good fish and chips! I’ll be stopping in to my local as soon as I touch down the next time I am in London.
Discovering: How much better waxing is than shaving for EVERYTHING! TMI alert (look away if you’ll get queasy) I waxed my armpits for the first time ever instead of shaving and sis! How did I not know what a difference it makes? Hairs grow back much slower, softer and less coarse. There’s also been a significant reduction in the amount of hair growth since I started waxing. Seriously! I have been shaving my armpits at least once a week since forever and now I wax my armpits once a month! That is the difference. It’s crazy. If you’re shaving, STAPPIT! Even if you’re not up for the pain of waxing (I’m not going to lie, the first time for me was even more painful than a Brazilian wax!), use a hair removal cream instead. At least try it and then let me know if you don’t see that the difference is CLEAR! You’re welcome.
Listening to: All things soca. I literally could not stand soca music before going to Trinidad and now I love it so much, I have all the 2019 carnival hits in constant rotation. So many tunes, and not enough space to share but here are 5 of my favourites:
Kes the Band – Savannah Grass (listening to this makes me slightly emotional!)
Mr Killa – Run Wid It (this track literally makes me pick race!)
Farmer Nappy – Hookin Meh (just so sweet)
Preedy – Lost and Found (my hoe anthem but Jesus knows my heart)
Blaxx – Gyal Owner (just love it)
Looking forward to: Next month’s payday. I really feel like I am still feeling the effects of all the carnival and holiday expenses. I really need this month to fast forward to when I will receive an alert! Eesh!
Reading: “Becoming” by Michelle Obama. It’s been such an incredible read, so emotional too. I’m nearly done! It’s so mindboggling how connected I feel to Aunty (she’s my Aunty and I will fight anyone who says different!). I laughed, cried and smiled all throughout the read. It’s so inspiring as well to read about her journey, having already followed her through the White House and now seeing well-deserved star shine so brightly. And the best bit is that I had the pleasure of going to see Aunty Michelle in Copenhagen on her book tour.
How I’m doing on my goals and Forty By Forty: (click HERE to read my Forty By Forty bucketlist)
Goals from last Checking In: (1) Find a netball club (2) Expand my social network beyond work friends (3) Go on at least one date
*My goodness, I didn’t think these would be that difficult but I guess I wrote too soon!*
I crossed dancing in a carnival off my bucketlist. Read all about it HERE!
The netball club search is ongoing – I suggested it on Facebook, a lot of ladies got really excited and all said they were up for it…and then nothing happened. Disappointment. Maybe as it gets lighter and warmer, the excitement and enthusiasm will return. Maybe.
This is so hard. Especially in the cold winter months. Ok those are excuses but it’s hard yo. I did start getting out a bit more as it has become lighter in the evenings and I have met a couple of people so watch this space.
Yesssssssssss! I actually went on a couple dates! Yasssssss your girl made it out. Still single though. Don’t get excited hahahaha! I’ll let you guys know when to order aso ebi don’t worry.
Goals for the next four months: (1) Start learning Danish again (2) Extend social network beyond work friends (yes this is a repeat!) (3) Keep a food diary as well as a money diary for at least a month.
