So here’s the Skincare Empties edition where I shall share all the products I have been using in my Skincare routines this year. I know I also need to share an updated skincare routine for AM and PM. I will get to it soon, I hope. I don’t believe in wasting products so even if I hate a product or think it was a waste of money, I will still try to use it up unless it is detrimental to my skin then I will just give it away or bin it. So here are my 2018 Skincare Empties, have at it!
Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion – This moisturiser is an absolute dream and my skin is so grateful for it in this bleak midwinter. No one wants to look like a whitewalker an hour after applying moisturiser and happily this product has a longwearing formula that keeps my body moisturised for the day without the need for constant reapplication #alreadyrepurchased
Estee Lauder Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher – This serum was an amazing product which really did wonders for my skin. It really did minimise my pores and brighten my skin. Unfortunately, it comes with a pretty hefty price tag so I need to save my pennies. But it’s worth it!
Clinique Moisture Surge – I have already spoken about this Moisture Surge moisturiser in my October Faves and I was not playing around. It is amazing, but sadly also finished now. As soon as I finish my Nature Republic moisturiser (which is another fave!) I will repurchase the Moisture Surge. #Yestorepurchasing
Ziaja Manuka Tree Purifying Gently Exfoliating Night Cream – This is definitely a product that once you realise how to use it, it will really work wonders. So cheap and yet so effective when used properly. It’s the last step in my night-time skincare routine and my skin feels so soft and smooth in the morning after. #definiterepurchase
Clinique Dramatically Different Hydrating Jelly – This is another goodie from Clinique. I only recently discovered that gel moisturisers were better for oily/combination skin that cream/butter based moisturisers. What a novice I am. Will I repurchase? Not sure, because my fave is Moisture Surge so would go for that first and then this jelly. But I still loved it anyhow.
Pixi Rose Tonic – FAVOURITE PRODUCT OF 2018. Yes I said it. Oh my days I love this tonic so much. I’m on my second bottle and nearly through will definitely repurchase. I love it. I started using this product, and it served as a prelude to a complete overhaul to my skincare. #HolyGrail #alreadyrepurchased
Moisturising Fluid – I mentioned this moisturiser in my September Faves post. #alreadyrepurchased #nuffsaid
Sephora Instant Moisture+ cream – Honestly I’m not sure whether this was a good product or not because my skin was going through all sorts of craziness when I arrived in Denmark in January so I bought this cream in the hopes it would help combat the cold dry bleak Danish winter. My skin stopped being super dry but then was super oily instead. Maybe it was just the big changes in my skincare routine that did not allow this moisturiser to be great. I’m willing to try again…maybe…not sure…
Ahava Age Control Night Nourishment – This was a gift from my mom so I have to be careful on my phrasing haha! I liked it as a night time moisturiser and the last step in my PM routine but I don’t think I would repurchase a) because of the price tag and b) because I prefer so many others including the Ziaja cream (above).
The Ordinary Marine Hyalauronics – I’m really not sure how I feel about this water-based serum. It smells of garbage but that smells dissipates quickly enough. My skin has definitely improved but I put that down mainly to other changes in my skincare routine particularly the introduction of acids into my routine (more on that later!). So whilst I don’t think it has done a bad job, I’m not convinced yet on the repurchasing front.
Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack – Actually this is not a dud. I do love this product, especially how it makes my skin feel the morning after and yet I have been very sporadic in my use of it. I actually got it a few years ago which is testament both to how much product you get but also my sporadic use. It’s nearly finished but I don’t think I will repurchase because I have since discovered other sleeping packs and night creams. But it was fun whilst it lasted.
La Prairie Cellular Radiance Eye Cream – I really need to start applying eye cream and be disciplined about it. This was a very nice product and I have nothing bad to say about it. I won’t repurchase though. Too pricey and I’m not disciplined enough to justify the expense.
Bio-essence Bio-Energy Snail Secretion Repair Serum – I mentioned this serum in my September Faves post and whilst I do really like it, I have since discovered other serums which have completely changed my skin. So holding off on repurchasing for now. Let’s see.
Happy Bath Facial Yoghurt Foam Grain Essence Rice Macadamia Oil – I had such high hopes for this product but sadly it was not meant to be. It left my skin dry and tight which is definitely the opposite to the soft smooth skin I was after. I was so happy once it was finished. Definitely not repurchasing.
YourGoodSkin Balancing Skin Concentrate – I feel bad because I don’t know whether it was the confusion of the cold weather or bad skincare habits or it’s just not a product for me. But this serum did nothing for me. So definitely no repurchasing.
The Sky Girl Active Queen Mist n Roses Rosy Liquid Face Serum – This was not a bad product. Just a standard facial mist which I would use as a toner after cleansing in the mornings. Won’t be repurchasing.
The Sky Girl Super Star Serum for Mixed and Oily Skin – Not sure what went wrong with this serum but it absolutely did not work for my skin at all. To be clear, it didn’t do any harm but it just did nothing at all so oiliness and skin breakouts continued. Definitely not repurchasing.
There you have it! Those are my Skincare Empties for 2018 – what were your favourite skincare products? What were the duds for you? Pipe up in the comments!
