Once upon a time, four African girls – a Kenyan, a Nigerian, a Ghanaian and a South African, met at university and ended up living under one roof. Fast forward fifteen years, 2 marriages, 3 kids, four horses, and a whole load of laughs later, we were reunited to witness the third marriage of the bunch, this time being a Ghanaian traditional wedding. I’d never been to a Ghanaian wedding before but I figured it would be quite similar to a Nigerian wedding and actually I wasn’t wrong. You have the families meet each other, the spokespeople for each of the families and the groom subjected to sometimes awkward but always funny questions. Actually, I think it was much nicer than a Nigerian traditional wedding because they dispensed with the needless ritual humiliation heaped on hapless grooms and their unsuspecting friends. It was a beautiful day all in all, a gorgeous blend of cultures that was giving me all the feels. Seriously, it was heart eyes for me the whole day. Whilst there was no dress code for the day, the bride encouraged us to wear African print so there was no way we could let the side down. Morko Makwa came through massively with our outfits – the top tucked into my skirt gave the impression of a dress and I just know that I will be rocking them very soon again separately and together. *Swoons* All three outfits by Morko Makwa Creations
